I downloaded the updated MSN toolbar for IE6 to check out the tab options. After installing the toolbar, I quickly discovered that the CTRL+T shortcut in FF works in IE to create new tabs. This excitement quickly faded as I realized how long it took to load a new tab (either from creating a new blank tab or loading a tab from a page link) - about 8 seconds. Ugh.

Mem Usage for iexplore.exe seems to jump up too everytime I open/close new tabs (fresh load with home page on tab is 38, 580k). A new tab from a link opened on the home page raised mem usage to 58, 660). Closing this tab lowers the mem usage to about 48,032. Opening a new blank tab ups mem back up to 50,292k

It's almost better to just open new windows...

UPDATE: It seems to work better/faster with a more powerful machine. I've downloaded the toolbar at work, and new blank tabs load a lot faster. The mem usage doesn't seem to get dented much either. I've been testing on a low-end laptop at home, so it seems this download is more ideal for more powerful PCs.
Work Specs: P4 1.7 Ghz, 512 RAM
Home specs: Celeron 2.4 Ghz, 256 RAM

I'm seeing weird behavior on the taskbar though. It sometimes would have multiple instances of IE when clicking on various tabs. Then it would go back to a single instance, then up to 2 instances, sometimes 3 (depending on the number of tabs I set up). I'll have to check known issues later.

Try it out. Ping me back. I'd love to know how it works for everyone. :)
