Reno News and Review just came out with their Best of Northern Nevada issue.
My top picks include:
Specialty Foods: Trader Joe's (#1)
I like their selection and affordability. Plus TJ's brand of dark chocolate clusters is so tasty! :)
Best Dessert: Chocolate Bar (#1)
Fondue = heaven.
Smoothie: Keva Juice beats 'em out. Though Beyond Juice's Razzle Dazzle is quite good.
Chicken Wings: Bully's Sports Bar and Grill (#1)
I usually get mild wings; the sauce is light with the meat crispy on the outside and tender on the inside.
Joe Bob's was listed as #2, and I agree, though their fried chicken is a definite must-try - worth the 20-minute wait.
Japanese: Kyoto (#2)
Kyoto's menu is fresh and filling.
I haven't gone to Ichiban since some have said it was sort of on the expensive side.
Chinese:
Palais de Jade (#1) hands down. Great food, plus they have a cozy, yet casual atmosphere.
Best Burger: Awful Awful at the Little Nugget (#1). Don't let the name deceive you. This charbroiled half-pound burger is very juicy and flavorful.
Of course, Reno's not all about food. So the issue also covers the best in culture, outdoor activities, night life.
And not so surprisingly, the issue also covers best br0th3l and best legal pr0st!tut3 as well... since the state of Nevada actually allows it legally, though illegal in Washoe (Reno area) and Clark (Las Vegas) counties.

Note: No compensation was given for raving about the above companies. I just like to give kudos where it is due.
