If this this reform becomes law, there's going to be major impact to the Asian-American community.
Critical changes:
1. The White House proposes termination of three categories for family-based petition:
a. unmarried sons and daughters of U.S. citizens
b. married sons and daughters of U.S. citizens
c. brothers and sisters of U.S. citizens. (so yeah, there goes my sis)
So basically, if a family member falls within any of these categories, they can't migrate under family petition.
2. Propose implementation of caps and waiting periods on parents of U.S. citizens.
Currently there is no waiting period for parents.
