Nick's actually starting his second year in the fall, but in some ways I still feel like I'm new to the MBA experience. (Probably since I only get to be in Provo only two weekends a month).
I still can't believe how we've managed to survive the past 10 months apart.
Yup. Nick and I live(d) in two different states while he went to school. When he first got accepted to BYU, I thought I was going to move with him. But it didn't work out that way. After so much pondering, number crunching, heartfelt discussions with heaven and each other, we both knew I had to stay behind and keep working. It was tough, it still is tough. In some ways, it was a blessing because I learned to be independent (and actually learned to how to drive ha ha - but that's another story)... But man, I do not want to relive this experience ever again.

In the upside of things, at least for the summer, we're only a 4 hour drive apart
. Nick's starting his internship tomorrow at Cisco in San Jose, CA, which will end Aug 31. We didn't get the offer from Cisco until late May so it was a scramble to get rid of the Provo apartment for the summer. Companies do recruit throughout the year, but some also recruit right before summer since some schools do get out later than BYU. It's definitely a peace of mind to know what'll happen earlier in the school year, but it's great to know there's hope even past the semester.
Nick ended up knocking quite a few dollars off rent and leaving the place furnished so someone will snap it up, which thankfully worked. We then tried to find bay area housing for him on craigslist, but yikes, even for just subletting a room it is darn expensive. Though we did find some funny gems like this one, "We are looking for a warm body to fill our room and our fuzzy wuzzy hearts...good connections are important to us, as we are laid all pretty laid back, 420 friendly" or "Looking for a STRAIGHT/BI Male Bodybuilder to share my place with. I'm looking for a serious BODYBUILDER/PERSONAL trainer under 40 who doesnt want to pay a lot for rent and also doesnt mind showing off his other ASSETTS." Pot friendly and gay friendly. Gotta love it
. Thankfully, his relatives let him move in with them, so we didn't have to resort to shared bedrooms.
