(Lol. GI Joe reference there...)
I love the web and all, but with its global reach, you just know that some folks will try to take advantage of its daily visitors.
Consumerist.com alerted readers today regarding StopBadware.org's most recent update to its Trends in Badware report(v2007). (StopBadware.org is an initiative lead by Harvard Law School's Berkman Center for Internet & Society and Oxford University's Oxford Internet Institute.) The 12-page report is filled with examples on how a user's pc can be compromised (based on today's most common tactics) and is a great reference for what 'flags' to look for when browsing the web or even just reading email.
Even just delving into the safe side of net can generate pc probs - my reality check came when I utterly got destroyed on SiteAdvisor's (hosted by McAfee) spyware quiz haha. (also check out their spam quiz... very nice).
happy surfing!
