Nick was going off about Asians being a rare commodity here in Reno earlier. For a sec, I thought he was just rambling, then he showed me today's copy of Reno News and Review.

If you are a young Japanese woman low on cash, this may be your break. As an egg donor, you can make about $5000 per donation. But the process is far from painless. According to the article, the pay-off is only "after the two-month period of taking hormone pills, the two weeks of ovulation stimulation, the monitoring of [your] physical and mental health..." Not to mention the final step of surgery.

Here's how the surgery goes (please skip to the next paragraph if you are a visual person and very sensitive to detail):
While under general anesthesia, a very fine hollow needle will be inserted through the vagina into the cervix. The needle sucks out the eggs.

By the way, this is not your typical hormone therapy, it's the highly-concentrated type so you can create about 18 eggs in a single cycle.

It reminds me of the Simpsons episode when everybody put hormone pills in Manjula's (Apu's wife) food. She ended up giving birth to octuplets.
