I miss having a few hours to burn on reading... tangible books. Since everything's basically gone digital (even picture books!), I started to explore digital libraries to see if I enjoyed it and determine if it could complement or even replace my current library (since it is convenient and doesn't cause physical clutter).
I tried reading free e-books (on Google books, Project Gutenberg, and even DailyLit - non-copyrighted classics can be viewed/downloaded in full from the previous sites, and in the case of DailyLit, content is sent in chunks via RSS or email) and it's just not the same experience... Maybe it's just me, but I don't feel as immersed in the story when I have to stare at a screen and scroll 'pages' with a keyboard/mouse. I was really hoping it'd work too, especially when I found out a full digital version of a Neil Gaiman book is available online (for free).
*sigh*
I guess I'm off to the local library then...
Hopefully I can borrow one or all of the these:
The Journal of Curious Letters (The 13th Reality)
From the Mixed-Up Files of Mrs. Basil E. Frankweiler
D'Aulaire's Book of Greek Myths
Mr. Popper's Penguins
The Count of Monte Cristo
Howl's Moving Castle
