Since we're out of state, we've had to figure out how to send documents over to our lender and realtor. Faxing at like a Kinko's wasn't going to work out in my opinion since it's a hassle and sending faxes adds up. And I don't even want to consider the cost of overnight shipping.
Canon CanoScan LiDE 25 - cheap but very straightforward scanner. I love the fact that it can scan directly to PDF (in multiple pages per file).
PDF Creator - <3 <3 this app. Free and lets you print PDFs from any windows program (I've used it extensively to print from firefox).
Lifehacker - it's my top go-to resource for software/life hacks. It's how I got the idea to use Adobe Photoshop to insert images to PDFs (technically free for me since I already had the software) and also listed out free/paid software to manage/merge PDFs.
