I've never really done NY resolutions since it almost always ends up pushed aside anyway. But after reading how other folks have done it, I figured there's no harm in going for continual improvement.

So for 2009, I'm aiming to continue on goals I've started out last year:
1. Read more books
- I think 12 a year is doable, but I hope to exceed that number.
2. Spend more spiritual time with family, even if it's just a short lesson. We figured a 5-minute music/lesson is better than nothing considering the kid's 30-second attention span.
- Today we faltered on this one - I blame the season premier of 24 ha ha.
3. Build our food supply.
- We basically started from zero after our move from last year. And obviously having minimal income for a few months didn't help :P.
4. Grow our emergency funds
- Have enough for Nick to have his own IRA (since he doesn't have a 401k at work. :P) Put my paycheck towards savings, kid's savings and my own IRA. I'm researching the usefulness of 529s as well... we're riding the fence on this one. On one hand, we want to help the kid out for college but on the other hand, we want him to learn the value of work to pay for education and mission as well... decisions, decisions.
5. Expand the kid's breakfast/lunch/snack menu (which can't include milk and can accommodate lack of molars). Help anyone? sample: He's hungry even after pounding a whole banana/6oz toddler formula/4 3-in pancakes. He'll still chow down 1/4 cup of cheerios on top of that.
6. Learn something new each day.
7. Be in bed by 10:30. Sleeping by then is a work in progress. Still can't fall asleep until almost midnight :P

I shared this list with Nick a little bit ago and he commented that I already read way too many books and none of them are actually useful (i.e. why not read more business, financial, or computer self-help books instead of children's books). I countered with "I have 70 tech/financial/business/consumer/parenting blog subscriptions just to make up for that." :P

I have to give him props though. One of his goals is continue his daily journal of random/funny/crazy moments he's had with K. All together now, awwwww...
