The kid and I and I take a walk everyday to grab the mail. What normally would take anyone maybe 5 minutes to do, takes us about 20-25 or even longer. Why? He has to stop at every single plant, patch of grass, and rock formation as we go by, to feel, smell, or if he gets really intrigued, taste. If a grasshopper happens to pop up, he has to chase it. We have to stop whenever a plane flies by and watch until it disappears into the horizon. Every single day. As if he hasn't seen it all before.
And now I think I sort of understand. There's so much beauty and wonder in this world. My broken eyes just didn't notice it anymore.
I love his raw innocence.
