100 years of Vegas

This year marks the 100th year of Vegas entertainment. We just got back from the sizzling (and I'm not just talking about the 110F temps) and extravagant city.

We had booked a suite at THEHotel but we weren't sure what the check-in times were. So Nick called the hotel a few hours after we got in and they told us we could check in at 11.

When we visited the front desk though, they said that check-in at the earliest is 1 pm (if the room was vacated/cleaned in time), 3pm the latest. At this point we were already exhausted, since we flew in at 7. Nick asked the front-desk clerk what she could do for us instead; in the end she offered us a penthouse suite at the Mandalay Bay tower (sweet!).

Some amusing moments:
At one point on the strip: Nick was walking about 2-3 feet ahead of me. A tour barker stopped him and asked, "Is this lady following you?"

While walking out of the tram in our hotel, the guy in front of us was subtly caressing the butt of his girlfriend and whispering, "oh yeah, check out that fine @**"

Another point on the strip: Nick is about 2-3 feet ahead of me again. A guy stopped Nick and asked if he wanted some coupons. Nick looked back at me, and the guy exclaimed, "I knew she was your wife! What's WRONG with you? Be a gentleman and walk beside her!"

In M&M's World: we were sitting in the 3D theater waiting for the M&M movie to start (it was dark) when the couple sitting in front of Nick started taking pictures. The flash went off right when Nick looked in their direction. >> Nick covered his face with his hands and shouted, "My eyes!"

At the Monte Carlo buffet, an Asian family sitting by us started taking pictures of their food.

We walked into Caesar's Palace and were greeted by some scents.
Me: Mmm... nice and fruity.
Nick: It smells like PEZ.

At the MGM Grand, in the Lion habitat, one of the trainers lied down beside a napping lioness. Then the lioness put her paw around him.
