good service is hard to find

A couple of weeks ago we went to Denny's since we had a coupon for a free entree with purchase of an entree. The server, even though he admitted it's been quite a long day, really tried to bring our orders promptly and was quite good with refills and making sure we're covered on any other needs.

When it was time to pay the bill, we gave him the coupon. Unfortunately, that particular branch couldn't accept that type of coupon. We figured bummer, live and learn. A few minutes later he came back with a coupon booklet and said, "but we do accept these..."

We were surprised and impressed. That's certainly not common behavior especially in this economy where we've come to expect corporations to take advantage of opportunities where they can make a profit...

Needless to say, we happily tipped the server based on the pre-discount total and will most likely visit that branch again.
