never thought it was a competition

My mom called out of the blue today. She then proceeded to share somewhat excitedly that she is also taking driving lessons - starting at stick too and for free (something to gloat over since the oldest child - me - is still learning automatic and for a fee :P). That was news to me especially since women aren't allowed to drive in Saudi Arabia. Why the sudden interest? Well, King Abdullah has been hinting that sometime in the near future, women will be allowed to drive in the kingdom.

Nice.

I wonder how the streets will be like once the women get their licenses. :) Just so you know, crazy driving is common even with just men on the road. :)
