I came across this post today regarding a suspected scam going on in NAIA. It seems some unscrupulous individuals are preying on unsuspecting passengers and leaving 'illegal' items within the passengers' luggage (in this case, a bullet in a 75 year-old woman's bag).

The passengers then have a choice to settle the situation for a fine with authorities.

Interestingly enough, bullets(ammunition) is a permitted item in checked baggages on US flights (depending on the local/international outbound airline). (FYI: TSA's list of prohibited items) It is however considered a prohibited item by the Philippine Bureau of Customs.

So was this woman just unaware of the customs requirements? Or was she an unlucky victim? You decide.
