I've been ARCed!

I got this postcard in the mail today saying, "We have been trying to reach you! It is real important that you call Toll free..." For a sec, I thought that maybe a company out there may actually be interested in me. But I've never heard of that company. And it bothered me that they used "real" instead of "really."

When I googled to validate the information, I found that it was just another telemarketing scam. I found a site for ARC International, but none of the corporate offices listed were in Cumming, GA. That got me really curious.

ARC, Inc. is actually the American Reading Club. Don't bother clicking on the link, they're having some server errors. Some ticked off customer probably hacked into their DB. Apparently, because of the DO NOT CALL list that has been implemented, companies are resorting to other ways to contact consumers. I say that's just low.

So if you get this same postcard, don't call them. According to the DNC ruling, any contact with the company (counts as an established business relationship and) allows them the right to contact you for 3 months.
